Historically Mosfellsbaer is the center for rehabilitation in Iceland and was chosen in October 2009 as the site for the first private hospital which will offer treatments to foreigners. Mosfellsbaer is conveniently located between two Hospitals. The main hospital and a country hospital which often has a shorter waiting list. Various services such as cosmetic surgery, hip replacements, dental work are available at private practices at great rates and very high standard.

Mosfellsbaer has since 1933 provided Reykjavik with most of its hot water for heating houses, bathing and swimming pools etc. Reykjavik suburbs on the other hand get there hot water from Hengill a mountain range about a 30 minute away.

It makes sense to experience a healthy lifestyle in Iceland as Icelanders live on average longer than most people and indeed Icelandic men live the longest of all.
